Founded in San Francisco in 1997 by Diane Elson Bankoff, Elson & Company, now based in Washington DC, works with a specialized team of over 100 master weavers in Nepal and India. Working with some of the best from the worlds of fashion, interior design, graphic design, art and architecture, elson & company’s singular vision has created a diverse body of work that truly melds the old and the new, the traditional with the modern. To date, elson & company’s contributing designers include: Fabien Baron, Oscar de la Renta, LULU DK, Kathryn M. Ireland, Carleton Varney, Hable Construction, graphic designer Rex Ray, architect Steven Holl, and founder Diane Elson Bankoff.
Diane and her team of master artisans carefully oversee the creation of each carpet. All Elson & Company Tibetan carpets are made of high altitude Himalayan wool and hand-knotted in Nepal.
All Elson & Company carpets are Goodweave certified. Goodweave is a nonprofit organization working to end child labor and to offer educational opportunities to children in India, Nepal, and Pakistan.
